Geschichtspolitik in Public Art & Education- Rethink the Fostering of Transatlantic Relationship in Berlin’s Memorial Culture

November 16 @ 10:15 am - 11:30 am

This event will explore how public art and education in Berlin’s memorial culture can serve as tools for rethinking and strengthening transatlantic relations between Europe and the U.S. Against the backdrop of 21st-century challenges like global crises, political polarization, and cultural shifts, the discussion will focus on how Berlin’s monuments and educational institutions can promote a more inclusive and nuanced understanding of history. Experts from art, politics, and education will examine how Berlin’s memory culture, through public art and historical education, can evolve to offer diverse perspectives on key historical events and their contemporary relevance. By examining the intersection of historical politics and transatlantic cooperation, the event seeks to foster a more inclusive and equitable approach to collective memory in both Europe and the United States.
