Prof. Manuel Hartung
Prof. Manuel Hartung, born 1981, has been serving as C.E.O. and Chairman of the Executive Board of ZEIT STIFTUNG BUCERIUS since January 2022.
Previously he headed the WISSEN section of the weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT from 2019 to 2021 and was publisher of ZEIT GERMANY. Between 2015 and 2019 he served as head of the education section CHANCEN. Before being a McCloy Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School from 2009 to 2011, he founded DIE ZEIT’s student magazine ZEIT CAMPUS and served as its editor-in-chief. While a student at Harvard in 2010, Manuel was one of the organizers of the “German Conference at Harvard” (as it was called back then).
Manuel taught at the Universities of St. Gallen and Göttingen; now he teaches at the Institute for Arts and Media Management – a branch of Hamburg’s Hochschule für Musik und Theater – where he was appointed as professor (§17HmbHG) in 2021.
