Rear Admiral Axel Ristau

Axel Ristau is a rear admiral in the Germany Navy and since 2022 has been serving as the Defense and Naval Attaché with the German diplomatic mission to the United States in Washington, D.C. A naval aviator by training, Rear Admiral Ristau began his career on the Tornado combat jet. Prior assignments led him to the German Ministry of Defense and put him in command of a squadron in a naval air wing. His career exhibits a strong connection to the US throughout: Ristau served as liaison officer to the US Navy and spent a year with the Naval War College in Rhode Island.
