Doreen studied chemistry and biochemistry at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and did the research for her Master thesis at the Chemistry Department at Harvard. In her PhD, Doreen focuses on medicinal chemistry, investigating biomimetic iron(IV)-oxido complexes as functional models for iron(II)/alpha-ketoglutarate dependent enzymes. She is a long-term honorary member of several animal welfare organizations, and in her free time she like to do krav maga, kickboxing and standard dancing.
