Joachim Schaeffer

Joachim is a PhD candidate researching machine learning methods for lithium-ion batteries to slow down battery degradation and accelerate innovation. He is jointly supervised at TU Darmstadt and MIT, fostering German-American research collaboration and friendships.
Besides his research, he led and organized the online BatteryDEV hackathon, bringing together almost 100 participants across the globe to write open-source software for analyzing battery data.
Joachim cares deeply about the environment and pressing social and global problems. When he's not in the lab, you can find Joachim outdoors cycling, hiking, or at the beach.
