Max studied Philosophy, English, Natural Sciences, English and Greek in Tübingen, Durham and Ann Arbor before joining the PhD program in Germanic Languages and Literature at Harvard. Interested in questions of normativity and irony in literature, culture and philosophy, he has also worked variously as a gondolier, published literary translator, editor, organiser of cultural events and barman. Max produces electronic music for labels in Berlin, Vienna and Miami and plays a variety of instruments, with more gusto than accomplishment.
