Wolfgang Schmidt

Wolfgang Schmidt is a German politician affiliated with the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and a legal professional. Since December 8, 2021, he has held the position of Federal Minister for Special Affairs and Chief of the Federal Chancellery in the Scholz Cabinet. From 2018 until 2021, he held the position of State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance. From 2011 to 2018, he served as the State Secretary in the Senate Chancellery of Hamburg and the Representative of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg to the Federal Government, the European Union, and Foreign Affairs.
